“Brooklyn Caprice has become a signature piece for our Company. Its aliveness comes from the free flowing communication between dancers of wide-ranging styles. Brooklyn Caprice is a clearing. In this clearing styles converge discovering a space to just be. The “other” becomes known. I am less interested in the steps, or connecting fragments of movement, than in the entire context of the dancers, how they move, what is created in the space of them moving together, each in his/her own way. Their contrasts and harmonies provide a whole new context for the ballet form and I am always surprised by what happens.”
