Hollie Wright

Ms. Wright, a Philadelphia native began her professional career at The Philadelphia Dance Company (Philadanco!).

Ms. Wright went on to Broadway working with Maurice Hines in Hot Feet, performing the lead before the show closed. Ms. Wright was also in Amazing Grace on Broadway and Cabin in the Sky at City Center. Other favorites regionally and touring; The Color Purple (1st National), Oklahoma (Arena Stage ( first Black Dream Laurey in a regional theater)) Miss Wright was also a part of the Original cast and out of town runs with Thoughts of a Colored Man which debuted on Broadway in 2021.

A BFA in Dance Education, Ms. Wright is currently Jazz Chair at The Ailey School, and is adjunct at Montclair State University and New York University Tisch School of the Arts. Ms. Wright is also part of the faculty for American Ballet Theater’s Summer program and various schools through New York City’s boroughs. Miss Wright has also taught at SUNY Purchase, Manhattan School of Music, Walt Disney Productions, Harlem School of the Arts, and abroad.

Choreography stateside and abroad; some favorites being Universoul Circus, a commercial spot for Party City, Working The Musical and Into The Woods at Montclair State; Hair, Disaster The Musical, and Head Over Heels at NYU. Ms. Wright received her first Regional theatre credit for choreography for Gypsy at Theatre Aspen and made her debut at Paper Mill Playhouse in their summer conservatory as a director and choreographer. Ms. Wright was also nominated for a Broadway World Award for her choreography in the Off-Broadway production Soulful Christmas.

Miss Wright enjoyed her directorial debut in the spring of 2024 with the production of Seussical the Musical and most recently directed and choreographed Violet the Musical at Montclair State University.

Miss Wright can be seen in the series Modern Love on Amazon Prime, movies In The Heights directed by Jon Chu, and Beauty written by Lena Waithe which is on Netflix.

Ms. Wright is currently in grad school, working towards an MFAIA at Point Park University.
