Studio Rental
Located in Downtown Brooklyn, our state-of-the-art facility consists of a column-free 25 x 35 ft. dance studio, lobby/waiting area, and two dressing rooms.
Brooklyn Ballet offers discounted rehearsal space to independent choreographers and non-profit dance companies.
The studio features a sprung dance floor, marley, portable mirrors, ballet barres, stereo system, and tumbling mats. With floor-to-ceiling windows facing the street, the studio offers plenty of natural light. Our location in the heart of downtown Brooklyn is convenient to multiple subway and bus lines.
Brooklyn Ballet’s space can be used for a variety of events including birthday parties, informal performances, reunions, and pop-up shops.

Brooklyn Ballet’s rental rules and guidelines are non-negotiable. Renters and their participants must abide by all of Brooklyn Ballet’s rules and guidelines. Failure to abide by Brooklyn Ballet’s rental rules and guidelines will jeopardize the renter’s relationship with Brooklyn Ballet.

We are able to accommodate long-term group rentals
Rental rates differ for rehearsals, classes, auditions, photoshoots, video shoots, showings, performances, and special events.
Rental rates will be confirmed by the Rental Coordinator prior to booking.
Renter agrees to use the space for the purpose indicated and paid for upon booking.
Renters who use the space for a purpose other than the one indicated upon booking will be charged the additional rental rate per hour.
Renters who don’t abide by this policy, won’t be permitted to rent at Brooklyn Ballet.

The signer of the Brooklyn Ballet Renter Agreement must be present at all bookings.
Renters must create a profile on Sawyer, our registration platform: www.hisawyer.com/brooklyn-ballet/schedules, and input their credit card information.
After completing their Sawyer profile and confirming the date and time of their booking, Brooklyn Ballet will process the full payment to the credit card on file.
Rentals must be paid in full to guarantee the booking. Incomplete or partial payments are not accepted.

Renter cancellations must be made more than 72 hours in advance to receive a full refund.
Renter cancellations made less than 72 hours in advance are non-refundable.
Brooklyn Ballet reserves the right to cancel a renter’s bookings.
Brooklyn Ballet cancellations made more than 72 hours in advance will be refunded at no additional charge.

Rental includes the use of Brooklyn Ballet’s studio, lobby, changing room, and single-stall bathroom.
Brooklyn Ballet staff may be present in the lobby for the duration of your rental.
Rentals must begin and end on time.
Brooklyn Ballet can not accommodate additional time for warming up or cooling down in the studio before or after the scheduled booking.
Renters are permitted to enter the space no more than 15 minutes prior to their scheduled booking.
Renters must vacate the space no more than 10 minutes after their scheduled booking.
Renters are permitted to use the in-studio speakers and boom box.
Renters are not permitted to use the in-studio laptop or big-screen TV without the consent of Brooklyn Ballet staff.
Access to Brooklyn Ballet’s Wi-fi network is available upon request.
Brooklyn Ballet reserves the right to show the studio and lobby to prospective
clients during operating hours.Smoking of any kind is not permitted at Brooklyn Ballet or 160 Schermerhorn.

The lobby is a shared space that must be quiet, accessible, and comfortable for Brooklyn Ballet students, faculty, and staff at all times.
Renters are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the Brooklyn ballet studio, lobby, and bathroom.
The studio, lobby, and bathroom must be left in the same condition that they are found. Prior to vacating the space, renters must return all equipment or furniture, such as ballet barres, chairs, stools, or tables to their original position prior to the renter vacating the space.
Brooklyn Ballet reserves the right to charge an additional $150 cleaning fee if the studio, lobby, or bathroom are not in their original condition prior to the renter vacating the space.
Brooklyn Ballet is not responsible or liable for lost or stolen property.
Brooklyn Ballet is not responsible or liable for the personal injury of the renter or participants.
The following actions are not permitted at any time:
Unnecessarily loud or disruptive sounds or music
Dragging the ballet barres
Moving or touching the mirrors without the consent of Brooklyn Ballet staff
Moving the stereo system, standing speakers, laptop, or big screen TV
Using in-studio props without the consent of Brooklyn Ballet staff
Placing personal items or props on the radiators or windows
Vocalizing, rehearsing, or warming up in the Brooklyn Ballet lobby or 160 Schermerhorn
Using substances on the marley dance floor, such as rosin, spray, or powder that leaves a residue or can’t be removed prior to vacating the space
Using tape on the marley dance floor that leaves a residue or can’t be removed prior to vacating the space
Using heavy or sharp objects that damage, puncture, scuff, or mark the marley dance floor
Wearing street shoes, dark-soled footwear, hard-soled footwear, or percussive footwear that damage, puncture, scuff, or mark the marley dance floor
Dance heels, such as character or ballroom heels are permitted
Spiked heels, stiletto heels, and tap shoes are not permitted
