Workshops

Collaborate with us

At Brooklyn Ballet, our workshop series, including the celebrated Incubator, serves as a vibrant creative hub where professional and advanced-level dancers engage in exploratory, community-building practice.

These workshops are designed to spark new artistic partnerships, strengthen the dance community in Brooklyn, and empower artists at all stages of their development. Brooklyn Ballet’s incubator is an opportunity for dancers to cross over and explore movement across different styles expanding their movement vocabularies. Past workshops have welcomed choreographers Nicole Von Arx, McKinley Willis, and Shannon Harkins.

The Dance In Dance Movement Therapy

What would it be like to have a body absent from the mind? Where does the spirit go if it never really dies? Can a dance change how we view Alzheimer's?  Participants will explore these questions, guided by the principles of dance movement therapy, using word, gesture, movement and sound. They will create a series of structured, improvised, movement explorations which embody the concept of being inside and outside the body. Any transference and/or countertransference will be explored within a space otherwise known as a container, cypher or bantaba.
